DESCRIPTION:A project of the Art & Water Micro Residency supported by A House Unbuilt \nMAY 9 – JUNE 7\, 2026 \nMICRO RESIDENCY: CHARCOAL EXPERIMENTS WITH KIMBERLY WETZEL \nOpen Studio: Saturdays\, Noon – 4pm\nDuring her time in residence\, Kimberly will be creating a series of abstract charcoal drawings utilizing an experimental charcoal pouring process. These drawings will be inspired by the landscape around Stillwater\, with a focus on the St. Croix River and native plant life. She will be spending time walking along river trails ethically foraging for materials to use in the creation of her work along with visual reference for her drawings. \nMAY 23 & 24\, 2026 | 2-4PM \nCHARCOAL POURING WORKSHOP WITH RESIDENT ARTIST KIMBERLY WETZEL \nThis two-part workshop will cover the the charcoal pouring process and experimental drawing techniques. We will spend the first session learning how to charcoal pour and creating unique textures on paper. The second session will utilize collage techniques to create landscapes out of our charcoal pours. DESCRIPTION:Join us on Saturday\, May 9\, for a Sidewalk Poetry Workshop in partnership with Public Art Saint Paul. Attendees will be introduced to the 2026 Sidewalk Poetry Contest and invited to submit their own work to the juried pool of poetry. The contest is open to all residents of Saint Paul. \nThe theme of this year’s contest is Water\, to correspond with the We Are Water MN exhibit. The contest will accept poems in six languages: Dakota\, Hmong\, Karen\, Somali\, Spanish\, and English\, to honor and recognize the remarkable cultures that make Saint Paul such a special capital city. \nThis event is part of the We Are Water MN exhibit at Capitol Region Watershed District’s Watershed Learning Center from April 23 to June 14\, 2026. \nEveryone is welcome at CRWD.
