DESCRIPTION:Third Space Thursday is a free community gathering in our parks to share food\, connect with neighbors\, get active\, and enjoy the river. Whether you are new to our national park or get outside often\, these events are an invitation to step away from the screen and be present in nature. Join us for a series of outdoor activities while learning about Mississippi Park Connection programs and the importance of preserving river access. All activities are free and optional. \nJoin us for the July 30th “Dance in your Park” edition of TST with Duende Dance Studio! Join MPC and Duende in a salsa dancing class at Boom Island Park. Lessons and snacks will be provided for all registered participants\, with extras available on a first-come\, first-served basis. DESCRIPTION:Presented in conjunction with the exhibition Rooted in Water\, this community gathering celebrates the Mississippi River through lanterns\, music\, and shared connection. \nJoin us for a night of lantern magic at Mississippi Watershed Management Organization on July 31st from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. Bring a lantern if you have one. Celebrate summer outside at dusk at the river’s edge. We will have a community song circle\, sharing songs about water and celebrating creatures and plants that make the Mississippi home. \nThis event is free\, but registration is required.

SUMMARY:Art + Water Workshop: Ripple Effects with Ananya Dance Theatre
DESCRIPTION:This two-part Art + Water Workshop series with Ananya Dance Theatre explores the ways water and love of public places intersect. Inspired by Ananya Dance Theatre’s summer of projects centered on the notion of public love\, we will carry stories of water into this practice together. \nIn this second session\, we will share stories about occupation and liberation and ways that water teaches us how to flow. Celebrated singer/songwriter Mankwe Ndosi will teach musical phrases from the song she composed for Ananya Dance Theatre’s fall show: PREM | Love: An Occupation\, and Ananya Chatterjea will share of simple gestures of choreography. \nThis gathering culminates in an outdoor procession around the gardens of CRWD\, with the River Tapestry created in the previous workshop. Through public singing\, gestures\, and offerings\, we will express a transformative public love for water and all of life. \nRegistration (below) is preferred but not required. No dance or musical experience is needed! All ages are welcome! Light snacks provided. All activities are designed to meet people where they are. Attending both workshops is encouraged but not required.
