Each year, Brown’s Creek Watershed District Partners with Sustainable Stillwater MN and their Bird City Group to put on a community event, bringing in community members to celebrate and learn more about the watershed. This event, taking place in Stillwater, brings in partners and volunteers to table about different environmental topics including water quality, macroinvertebrates, native plants, and fish and wildlife. It is a family friendly event with games, crafts, free ice cream, and live music as well.

This event celebrates the Brown’s Creek Watershed, and Brown’s Creek flows to the St. Croix River, which flows to the Mississippi River. The activities and partners represent environmental education that is applicable to all of the metro area.

The Sacred Water Shared Future campaign is powered by you! The heart of this centennial celebration is the incredible variety of events planned and hosted by our partners — community groups, nonprofits, businesses, schools, and individuals who feel a connection to the Mississippi River.

We do not host events ourselves; instead, we serve as a central hub for river-focused activities happening across the Twin Cities throughout 2026.
