National Mississippi River Day Community Paddle

June 2nd is National Mississippi River Day- a day to honor, protect, and connect with our nation’s iconic waterway. To celebrate, we are getting out on the Mississippi for an evening paddle from Hidden Falls Regional Park to Lilydale Regional Park in St. Paul. Join us us to appreciate the river’s history, look for wildlife, and connect with the Mississippi. We will go around Pike Island at Fort Snelling State Park to the confluence of the Minnesota and Mississippi Rivers, a sacred place that the Dakota call Bdote.
We’ll bring bags to pick up some trash along the way too.
Trip is approximately 5 miles. Join us with your own kayak for no charge. Or rent a kayak from us with advance reservations. We will meet early to arrange cooperative shuttling. RSVP to booking@twincitieskayaking.com.
All trips are weather permitting and subject to change. Be sure to RSVP by email for up-to-date info.
The Sacred Water Shared Future campaign is powered by you! The heart of this centennial celebration is the incredible variety of events planned and hosted by our partners — community groups, nonprofits, businesses, schools, and individuals who feel a connection to the Mississippi River.
We do not host events ourselves; instead, we serve as a central hub for river-focused activities happening across the Twin Cities throughout 2026.
